Manic Episodes (High Mood)

  • Feeling very energetic or "on top of the world."
  • Racing thoughts or jumping between ideas.
  • Acting impulsively or making risky decisions.
  • Needing less sleep but still feeling rested.
  • Feeling easily irritated or agitated.
  • Having an inflated sense of self-importance.

Depressive Episodes (Low Mood)

  • Feeling sad, hopeless, or empty.
  • Losing interest in things once enjoyed.
  • Feeling very tired or drained.
  • Changes in appetite (either eating too much or too little).
  • Sleeping too much or having trouble sleeping.
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions.
  • Thoughts of death or suicide.

Helpful Coping Techniques

Create a Routine
Establish Regular Sleep Patterns: Try to wake up and go to bed at the same time each day. Consistent sleep patterns can help manage mood swings.
Journaling
Write down thoughts, even small ones, to process emotions.
Build a Support Network
Friends, family, or a counselor can offer support and relief.
